Today, we witnessed the official turnover of leadership at Parañaque National High School–Baclaran. It is a moment filled with gratitude, appreciation, and hope for the future.

To our outgoing Principal, Dr. Gerry C. Catchillar, thank you for your leadership, support, and genuine care for our teachers, personnel, and learners. Your leadership has left a meaningful mark on our school, and we are truly grateful for all that you have done.

And to our incoming Principal, Mrs. Veronica M. Francisco, welcome to PNHS-Baclaran! We look forward to working with you, supporting one another, and continuing to build a school where everyone is empowered to do better and be better. May this new chapter bring meaningful changes, new opportunities, and even greater accomplishments for our school community.

RSPC Intensive Training: Preparing Minds and Voices through writing and arts for the Regional Stage

Our Grade 10 campus journalists recently completed a 3-Day Intensive Training for the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held at Mella Hotel, as part of their final preparation for the upcoming competition.

Following the school-based training, Teacher Trainers Joshua Jay Navigar and John Paul Pido attended the intensive sessions to further mentor and refine the skills of our student delegates. The training focused on Editorial Cartooning (English) and Column Writing (Filipino)—two disciplines that demand both critical thinking and creative expression.

Our participants, Eliogen Bellen (Editorial Cartooning) and Kate Anya Palmero (Column Writing), demonstrated remarkable dedication throughout the program. The journey was also strengthened by the presence and guidance of our School Paper Adviser, Mr. Gerald Pua and Mrs. Alma Basquiña. Also through the tremendous support of our School-head Dr. Gerry C. Catchillar, Head Teachers Mrs. Milagros V. Dulce and Ms. Cristina S. Galacgac.

The training was facilitated by dedicated mentors and trainers who generously shared their expertise and passion for campus journalism.

This intensive training serves as the final academic and creative sharpening before the RSPC, which will be held on March 10 at University of Perpetual Help System DALTA – Las Piñas Campus.

In campus journalism competitions, only the First Place winner advances to the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) making the challenge both rigorous and meaningful. With faith, discipline, and perseverance, our only prayer is to make it through, by God’s grace, and bring pride to our school.

We wish our young journalists the courage to think critically, the wisdom to write truthfully, and the creativity to draw ideas that speak louder than words.

Parañaque National High School – Baclaran successfully launched its Safe School Policy on March 6, 2026, anchored on the theme “Ligtas, Maayos, at Mapagkalingang Paaralan: Sama-sama Nating Isulong.”

The activity brought together school leaders, teachers, students, parents, and community partners who affirmed their commitment to creating a safe, orderly, and caring learning environment for every learner. The event also featured the stakeholders’ affirmation of commitment and ceremonial signing of the Safe School Policy campaign.

Together, the PNHS–Baclaran community continues to work hand in hand in promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive school for all.

On February 9–10, 2026, PNHS–Baclaran successfully conducted a Career Guidance Orientation for our Grade 10 learners to help them make informed decisions as they prepare for Senior High School.

The session provided valuable insights on different strands and possible career pathways aligned with their interests and strengths.

📣JDVP Orientation for our Grade 12 TVL students and their parents

PNHS-Baclaran, in partnership with SMI Institute Inc., successfully conducted the JDVP Orientation for our Grade 12 TVL students and their parents. The session provided an overview of the training opportunities, expectations, and industry-based skill development offered through the Joint Delivery Voucher Program.

📣GAD Training Highlights | September 11–12, 2025

Our Gender and Development (GAD) Training: Crafting School-Based Research successfully concluded, empowering teachers with the knowledge and skills to design research-based interventions that promote gender-responsive and inclusive education.

Day 1 focused on understanding GAD in basic education, the fundamentals of school-based action research, identifying GAD issues for research, and developing research questions, objectives, and appropriate methodologies. With the guidance of our resource speakers Dr. Ken Joseph E. Clemente and Mr. Roberto R. Lizardo, participants gained deeper insights into crafting relevant and meaningful school-based research.

Day 2 highlighted the practical application of these learnings through drafting research proposals, integrating GAD concepts, and presenting outputs and reflections. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Ormon Angel T. Andes for generously sharing his expertise and guiding participants throughout the sessions.

We also extend our gratitude to our supportive principal, Dr. Gerry C. Catchillar, and to the hardworking Technical Working Group, whose dedication ensured the success of this training. Truly, this two-day event strengthened our commitment to inclusive, research-driven, and gender-responsive practices at PNHS-Baclaran.

With the theme “Sama-sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa,” the entire PNHS Baclaran community—teaching and non-teaching personnel, alumni, barangay officials, parents, SSG officers, and dedicated volunteers—came together with one goal: to ensure our school is clean, safe, and ready for the new academic year.

Announcement of Admission for the Science, Technology, and Engineering Program (STEP) for the School Year 2025-2026

Paranaque National High School Baclaran is pleased to announce that the Guidance and Admission Office will start accepting applications for the Science, Technology, and Engineering Program (STEP) for the School Year 2025-2026 from April 22, 2025 to May 15, 2025. This program is designed for qualified elementary graduates who are interested in pursuing a career in the fields of science, technology, and engineering.

Interested applicants must meet the following requirements:

1.Must be a Filipino citizen.

2.Must have completed elementary education with satisfactory academic performance.

3.Must have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of not lower than 85%.

4.Must have a final grade of not lower that 85% in Science, Mathematics and English, and have a final grade of not lower than 83% in all other learning areas.

Application Documents:

1.Accomplished Application Form (available at the Guidance and Admission Office, and school website).

2.Certified true copy of the elementary school report card (SF-9).

3.Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs.

4.A recommendation letter from the elementary school principal or class adviser (downloadable on the school website).

Screening and Admission Process:

1.Applicants must take the STEP Qualifying Examination (SQE) scheduled on May May 22, 2025. Details regarding the examination venue and time will be provided on May 19, 2025 on the school website.

2.Passers of SQE shall be interviewed, along with their parents or guardians, by the members of the School Screening Committee on May 29, 2025 and will be rated accordingly.

3.List of successful applicants will be posted on the school website on or before June 6, 2025.
