The Department of Education (DepEd) conducted the National School Opening Day Program on September 13, 2021, with the theme “OBE 2021: Bayanihan para sa Ligtas na Balik-Eskwela”. The virtual program featured different preparations of schools and field offices and discussed relevant developments on the opening of School Year 2021-2022.

All learners, teachers, and DepEd personnel were required to take part in the Virtual Flag Raising Ceremony and listened to the Secretary’s Message at 7:45 A.M. to 7:55 A.M., as well as the President’s Message from 7:55 A.M to 8:00 A.M.

This was streamed live at DepEd Philippines Facebook Page, partner TV and radio stations, and other channels and platforms. The other segments of the program were optional and encouraged only if it would not interfere with the conduct of classes.

In relation to the conduct of this nationwide virtual activity, Paranaque National High School – Baclaran conducted a school-based program to join the department for its aim to encourage patriotism and enhance school unity, spirit, and pride. As an institution

that promotes interest and empowers learners with opportunities, the school personnel encouraged the learners, parents, and other stakeholders to grace and support the event virtually. Some selected teachers reported to school to lead the conduct of the Flag Raising Ceremony, while others watched the virtual activity via FB live streaming at home.

The short program was spearheaded by the school principal, Dr. Gerry C. Catchillar. The doxology was led by Mrs. Sheila Alberto. Ms. Cristina Galacgac shared meaningful thoughts to ponder. The following topics were also discussed:

  • Maintenance and Management of School Facilities and Health Protocols – (Mr. Gliender Ranoco)
  • Personnel Services – (Ms. Mylene Tayag)
  • Supplies and Equipment – (Ms. Gina Sabariaga)

The 1-hour program ended with a closing remarks by Mrs. Nabelle Quinagon.
