Paranaque National High School-Baclaran held a Career Guidance and Counseling and Employment Coaching for Grade 12 students last March 17, 2023 at the School AVR, STE Building by informing and instilling the students the awareness to the constituents of Paranaque all the PESO, City Government, DOLE and DMW/OWWA programs and services and to coach and share the proper job application.

Ms. Minviluz Marquez, Senior LEO of Public Employment Service Office (PESO) emphasized the relevant skills in the new normal such as adoptability and flexibility, creativity and innovation, technology savviness, emotional intelligence and leadership skills. She taught the students on how to be good communicators, listeners and critical thinkers in serving the clients and employers. She also gave tips on what to prepare for the pre-employment requirements and on the steps for job application process.

On the other hand, Mr. Angel Santos, LEO of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), NCR stressed the importance of skills and competencies in industries and sectors that are relevant for the students’ information. He illustrated the key employment generators in NCR such as health and wellness, IT-BPM, wholesale and retail, constructions, transport and logistics, hotel and restaurant, and tourism to strengthen the minds of the Grade 12 students who would like to venture jobs after their graduation in Senior High School and even after their tertiary level. He also encouraged the students to be goal-oriented, loyal and multi-taskers because these are the qualities that companies are looking for an employee.

During the course of the event, Atty. Harry Roque came and gave a short inspirational talk to the students. He cheered up the students to strive hard in their studies and achieve their dreams and aspirations in the future, just like him from nothing to dreaming big and now a great leader of our country. What a wonderful privilege to have him as one of the timely speakers!

After the discussions, there were questions raised by the selected Grade 12 students. For instance, if they could already work abroad even, they are just NC holders and graduates of SHS. There were also open-ended questions asked by the smart students and their questions were answered well by the representatives. Moreover, the speakers’ topics brought an impact to the lives of the PNHS- Baclaran Grade 12 students.

The awarding of certificates to the speakers and to all the technical working committee of the career guide orientation was headed by Ms. Cristina Galacgac, Asst to the Principal in the Senior High School Department, Mr. Rodelio Barroga, Guidance Teacher and the members the committee, Mr. Keeno Nazareno, Ms. Hannah Jane Galut, Ms. Winnie Beth Clemente, Mr. Armando Mendoza, Ms. Karla Paula Katigbak and Ms. Melody Ambuyat. Indeed, everyone was grateful for the success of this momentous event.
